Tomorrow is the 4th of July. What does that mean to you?
Does it mean a day off from work? That is always nice.
Does it mean spending time with family? That is always lovely!
Does it mean a picnic or time at the lake, perhaps? That sounds like lots of fun!
Does it mean being thankful to those who have served and currently serve to protect our country? That is very important!
Does it mean looking back and reflecting on those who had the vision to form the ideals of our great nation and all of the related freedoms we have? That is something we must never forget!
Does it mean thinking about all that we have in this great country, and thanking the Lord for His provision and His providence in our lives? That is what we are here for!
The 4th of July means all of those things to our family...except for the time at the lake part. :)
But, perhaps it can mean even more if we take the time to think about it.
The 4th of July=INDEPENDENCE DAY!
This drives me to think of those who do not even know what independence means. It brings to my mind, "the least of these". Many around the world could meet this definition, but a very certain group of people are inescapably on my mind this Fourth of July.
INDEPENDENCE DAY! I think of the orphans waiting in orphanages around the globe. What do they have to celebrate? Many of these children with special needs will not get enough food today. Many will not even see a toy, much less play with one. Many will not get the loving touches and care that they need. Sadly, many will not even get to leave the crib that they are in at all on this "holiday weekend".
The knowledge and the reality of this hits me hard. We are God's people. We are called to be His hands and feet to this world. Would you consider doing something for these children in honor of Independence Day?
There are SO many things that you can do!
PRAY! Pray for the children languishing in cribs, with not enough food, love, medical treatment, or even diaper changes.
SHARE! Let's get the word out about these precious little ones! The more who know, the more who can stand in the gap and speak for those who cannot speak up for themselves.
ADOPT! If you feel so led, look into bringing one or more of these children into your home. Give them the family that they long for and share Christ's redeeming love with them.
DONATE! Click on over to Reece's Rainbow or Project Hopeful or Ten For Orphans and give a gift to help get a child closer to their forever family.
Or, if you are so inclined, please donate to our Adoption Home Study Chip-In below. We are ready and willing to go ourselves and bring one (or maybe two) of these dear children into our home. The only thing standing in the way is money. As one we can do it! I am confident in that. I know that our future child(ren) will bless us, and all around us if they are given the chance!
